Aww… first things first tickle our brain for ‘sugary stuff’, are cute round cream soaked donuts & cheese cupcakes (at least my brain tickles or them).
Too much intake of sugar can put you under the radar of Breast Cancer. It can enhance the risk of developing Breast Cancer and spread of already existing Cancer.
If you are already having Breast Cancer, then sugary items can lead to the expansion of the Cancer cell’s territory. So now we have to give up on all our favorite sugary eatables? Lead a sweet less life?

Hurray! There’s no scientific evidence that states that sugar doesn’t make cancer grow faster.
Though all the cells in our body, including cancer cells, feed on blood sugar (glucose) for energy. But ironically feeding more sugar to cancer cells doesn’t speed their growth. Likewise, depriving cancer cells of sugar doesn’t slow their growth.
This misconception about sugar, may have arisen as part of the misunderstanding of utilizing a small amount of radioactive tracer (typically a form of glucose) in PET CT Scans.
For all who are not aware of PET CT Scan, it’s a scan which tells you about the detection and spread of Cancer in your body. Before conducting the scan, the patient is injected with a radioactive tracer to detect the Cancer cells in the body. This tracer is in the form of liquid glucose. That’s why most people mistakenly take it to be Cancer spreading drug.
All tissues in your body absorb some of this tracer, but tissues that are using more energy (referring to cancer cells) absorb it in greater amounts. For this reason, some people have concluded that cancer cells grow faster on sugar. But this isn’t true. Don’t trust me, trust science!
Too Much Sweetness is Hazardous…
Excessive sugar intake doesn’t cause Breast Cancer but it surely invites a lot more fatal diseases indeed.
Sugar Is White Death
- Uncontrolled consumption of sugary items can also lead to weight gain and increase the risk of obesity and diabetes, which may indirectly increase the risk of Cancer.
- Sugary intake can also boost the risk of certain cancers, including esophageal cancer.
- Excess of sweetened foods and beverages can lead to blood sugar problems and put you in the radar of heart diseases (which is as fatal as Cancer)
So, stay fit, be sweet and be controlled sweet. Live life, Donut size!
